Vintage, Part 2

For those of you who did not get to see Vintage, Part 1, go and visit Friday's blog post. For those of you who are wondering what I am doing posting on a Saturday, never fear! I am not taking over the blog by force...I'm just filling in. We'll be back to our regular post schedule after CHA! And for those of you who have been waiting to see what I did with the other half of the Big Boy cover....here it is!



This vintage stamp is called "Picking Flowers with Mom" and is made by The Stamping Ground. The Happy Valentine's Day stamp is Close to My Heart. I cut the scalloped circle with a Nestabilities die, and then ran it through the Big Shot using the Cuttlebug Divine Swirl Embossing Folder. Then I rubbed some cranberry alcohol ink and some old paper distress ink over it, crumpled it up, and attached it to the project.

Happy 2009!!!!!!!!!

Happiest of New Years to everyone! MOSD has some amazing things in store for you in the upcoming 2009 and I have no doubt that you're going to be ooohing and ahhhing over every bit of it! but that's all I can say :) Just keeping watching the blog in January and you're sure to see some fantastic sneak peeks of New CHA products closer to Winter CHA!

Have you made your new calendar for 2009 yet? If not or if you're thinking you'd like to make one for a gift here's an idea for you--Using the cool Digi templates from BW Scrapbooking for the big boy album, a freebie calendar brush that I picked up on the internet Created by Aisne Smith and also another freebie pattern paper created by "Designs by Angelica E." that I got off the internet, some ink, Technique Tuesday Ali Edwards Stamps, some ribbon,stickles and some copper paper from my stash :) If you're not into to digi, then you can always use one of the fantastic calendar stamps or print off small ones from the internet to have the same effect! You can go simple like I did and just use stamping and stickles or you can embellish each page heavily--it's up to you, you can totally customize it! On my version I went with all sepia photos, copper and neutral colors.

Here are a few of the pages--I'll get the whole calendar loaded into the MOSD Gallery in the next week so you can see all the pages if you'd like.

Let's Decorate!

This week at our house is our traditional "decorating week." We put the lights up on the outside of the house, decorate the tree and the inside of the house, and generally make things look festive. I really enjoy handmade items - a holdover from when I was a kid and we had very little money, so we made lots of stuff - everything from stringing cranberries and popcorn to making paper chains to salt dough ornaments!

I don't get quite so frugal with my decor as we did when I was a child, but I do enjoy making things for the house. When I saw these Cosmo Cricket chipboard snowmen and papers, I decided to make a little wall hanging for my powder room. This is a 6x6 size, but you could go larger or smaller.



Supplies Needed:


MOSD Clear Acrylic panel - I used the front cover of the Cover to Cover Tabbed Album, but turned it sideways so the holes are at the top of the panel

White paint or craft ink - to edge the panel and to stamp the images

Christmas stamp - I used one made by Inkadinkado

Chipboard embellishments - I used the Cosmo Cricket snowman

Decorative paper (to cover up the naked snowman!) - Cosmo Cricket - even the saying is cut from a Cosmo Cricket Strip Tease sheet

Black mini brads - for the Snowman's eyes

Christmas ribbon - I used some printed twill

Here is another view with a red background.

You can also see that I "roughed" Frosty up a bit with sandpaper and edged him with some brown ink, to make him look old. It goes with the style of papers I chose. Thanks for looking!

Itty bitty gift ideas :)

Just wanted to share some more Snowflake StickOn Fun! This would make a great gift if you're just looking for a fun way to say Merry Christmas and I'm thinking of you. I'm making these for my daughters therapists as part of their Christmas gifts.

To make this you'll need
Patterned Paper
Cardstock
Stickles
Embossing Glitter
Snowflake Stick on's
Sentiment Stamp
Ink to match
Embossing Ink (if you choose to emboss instead of stickles)
Embossing Heat Gun

First I cut my card to measure 5x7 and folded the cardstock.
Next I cut my patterned paper to fit the front of the card, with about 1/4" border.
Then you're going to want to cut or punch a scallop circle. To cut my scallop circle I used my QK Silhouette Cutter, but I know EK Success makes a very large scallop circle punch that would work great for this card. I embossed the scallop edge area with embossing ink and then used Snowflake embosssing powder--it's a fantastic embossing powder that has white and sparkles combined to make a perfect frosty look.
The center cardstock is actually a heavy weight double sided paper--I layered the snowflake Stickon's onto the scallop area and overlapping into the center of the center. Just be sure to leave enough room to stamp your sentiment in the circle area.
Once I had all the snowflake StickOn's placed and the sentiment stamped, I added Ice Stickles in Coffee Ice to each of the Snowflake Stickon's. Just follow the outline of each sticker and you're all done with the card--just let it dry (if it's like my house, put it somewhere little hands can't get in to the wet glitter :)

While that's drying you'll need to cut out out the mini chinese take out box--you can find the template from a coordinating patterned paper or cardstock. Once you have it cut out, folded and glued then you can apply another snowflake stick on to the front and back side of the box. Once again I traced over them with the Stickles and let dry. Add your goodies inside--they fit hershey's kisses and mini reese cups really well :) then add a great bow to the top and you're all done with another gift!


and now for A BONUS project!! I'm always inspired by Tim Holtz's 12 days of Christmas tags--I'm in AWE of his amazing talent and product so I played around tonight and created this card--using some Snowflake StickOn's as MASKS!!! SO COOL--it's a little tricky but it makes an awesome effect! Plus I got to use the AMAZING Cool Christmas Special Edition Chatterbox Christmas Kit (an early Christmas gift--Thank you Alicia!!!!! You're the BESTEST!) to make this fun card! I'll leave you with the pic of the card for now (it's 2:18 am, so I need to get my booty in bed, but I'll be back in the a.m to post the how to's for it

Happy Halloween! Come check out this Mini Album!

Happy Halloween all you bloggers! I thought I'd share a Halloween mini album with you today. I call this project my "Halloween Jumble." The reason I call it that is because I used a huge jumble of products to make the pages of this album. Most of the time when I make a mini album, I use one manufacturer's album. But since I also like to "share the wealth" as it were, and buy lots of stuff, sometimes I like to mix it up. Besides, so many products just work SO well together!

MOSD products work VERY WELL with other products. As you will soon see! For this mini album I used the following MOSD products:

Halloween Stick-Ons (can you spot them?!)
Chipboard pages from Build-a-Book letters (the part you cut off when you make a Build-a-Book)
Chipboard pages from a Retro Album
Acrylic pages from Step and Retro Albums

For my other pages I used a metal "page," pages from a Cosmo Cricket house and bracket albums, scrap chipboard to make 6x6 and tag pages, plus a Rusty Pickle folder. I found the varied page styles and materials made for a funky and fun project!

Please note that I did not show EVERY page in this album, since it is about 30 pages long! I will try to put the whole thing in Photobucket and share a link with everyone. Check back with me soon!

Quick and Easy with MOSD

Have you ever needed a gift in a hurry, but wanted something handmade and from the heart? With the MOSD Stick-Ons, a free CD tin, some paper scraps, and a few small embellishments, you can have a cute AND quick gift!







I made this tin and six 3x3 note cards in about 30 minutes! Here's how:

1. I covered the top and inside of a CD tin with some 6x6 Basic Grey Two Scoops paper. I simply used my ATG for adhesive. The tin is a tad smaller than 6x6, so you do have to trim the paper down a little.

2. I used a few scraps of paper, a flower and brad, and a Stick-On to decorate the cover of the tin. I stamped "For You!" inside the Stick-On with black Staz-On ink.

3. I used a bit of velvet ribbon to decorate the edge of the tin. I just stuck this on with craft size Glue Dots.

4. I then cut some white cardstock into 3x6 inch strips and folded them in half to make 6 note cards.

5. Then, I used scraps of the Two Scoops paper to decorate the fronts of the note cards. I added a few Stick-Ons, some stamped greetings, tiny flowers, brads, and buttons to complete the cards. I also tucked small envelopes into the bottom of the tin.

In about 30 minutes I had a FUN gift for a friend who needs a pick-me-up!

Here is a GREAT tip for stamping on Acrylic from our Friend Penny over at Life's Journeys Scrapbooking:





Creative Stamping - Acrylic or similar smooth, non-porous surface stamps differently than paper and cardstock. If you're not careful, the stamp can easily slip and smear your image. Sometimes, you can do this intentionally to create cool effects. But if you want a better shot at a clean stamped image, ink your stamp and let it dry for several seconds before placing it on your layout. To further reduce the chance of slipping, just move slowly and be careful to press straight down.
