Beach Fun Indeed!

We spend so much time at our local

theme park where there is a mock beach

and super fun waterpark during the summer.

Of course, you KNOW I have tons of pictures!

The "Beach" in my title is from

and accompanying it is the great piece from the

What more fun way to cherish my "beach" pictures

than to showcase them in a really fun mini album?!

really highlighted by the overlapping pages!

With all my heart...

I used the MOSD Friendship Edger

for my card today.

After having a fantastic vacation with a dear friend

that I hadn't seen in two years,

I figured she deserved a "paper hug."

That's what our paper creations are, you know...

when you give them away,

they become "paper hugs."

*

This particular MOSD Edger

originally states "Hold a Friend with Both Hands"

and features a cute little antique telephone,

you know... the kind you hold "with both hands."

Very clever!

And the words are meant to lay over the die cut strip.

I changed my edger up a bit so you could

see the various ways you can work with these great tools.

*

So the inside of my card reads...

God's Love and Joy...

Friends of ours were recently blessed with a

sweet baby boy

so I just had to make them a precious card

to congratulate them.

With the help of MOSD,

you can see how gorgeous

this sweetly simple card turned out to be.

I used the "Babies and Children" Clearly Stated transparencies

for the inside of my card

and the "Baby of Mine" Topper for the cover.

Memorial Day got me to thinkin'...

and I truly CHERISH the men and women

who put their life on the line each and every day

to allow me and others to have my freedom.

This sun catcher was so fun and easy to create.

Here's how you can do the same using the

fantastic products from

MIDNIGHT OIL SCRAPBOOK DESIGNS...

* 

Using the FLIPPED OUT ALBUM,

I trimmed one of the smallest acrylic pieces to a perfect square.

With a bit of tissue paper and

waterbase sealer (such as Mod Podge,)

create a stained glass look to one side of your square

using the "mosaic technique."

1.  Apply sealer to square first.

2.  Quickly but carefully layer torn pieces of tissue paper.

3.  Apply sealer over torn pieces of tissue.

Add decorative elements to the FRONT of your square.

I used the STARS INTRICACIES from MOSD

just above my childrens' photos.

*

Using a heavy duty punch tool (such as the Cropadile,)

punch a hole in each corner of the square.

Add beading wire (I used 22 gauge) and beads.

*

This would be a super fun project for any age.

Not your birthday... my internet system!

Some crazy things have been happening,

including my post showing up without any message.

So I'm going to try this once again

and hopefully you will enjoy the MOSD goodness I have to share.

As you can see,

I used one of MOSD's Stackers

from the Birthday Collection for my card.

These stackers come trimmed to the finest

for you to create and assemble how you please

or how MOSD perfectly suggests.

Ready for a 12x12 scrapbook layout,

MOSD Stackers fit just right onto your page.

OR you can be all creative and go trimming your stacker

here and there as I have done for my birthday card.

And since this month hosts Mother's Day,

in honor of all women,

we should always create our birthday cards

with a little something something inside.

My card is an envelope card

which allows you to slip in any special something

for the gal of your delight.

*

Of course there is the obvious gift...

the good ole green ($$) or gift cards/certificates.

But other gifts fit just as nicely and won't break the bank.

What about favorite photos or a poem?

How about some handmade notecards or stationary

(or is it stationery?  he he.)

There is always the sweetest gift of "love ya coupons."

Envelope cards work great for group signing...

just have everyone sign a nice sheet of paper

instead of the card.  Then slip the sheet into the pockets.

The card stays lovely and the paper is a treasured momento.

I hope this gives you tons of ideas for your next birthday.

Now here is how to create your own envelope card...

Begin by tucking one flap of one envelope into the other.

Close this envelope over onto the other envelope.

*

Then adhere the remaining flap (of the "other envelope")

to the reverse side of the first envelope.

*

The two envelopes will end up working just like a card.

The side showing the flap can be covered over

as the "front" of the card.

This leaves the backside looking

neat and clean as if it were card stock.

*

Now you try it!

Perfectly Shaped... Perfect Mini Books!

Spring has finally sprung!

I pray that each and every reader of MOSD

had a lovely and blessed Easter!

*

Today's gift from MOSD may be a bit obvious...

a mini book that utilizes the

PERFECTLY SHAPED PAGES.

When considering projects with MOSD products,

I am always drawn to these pages.

I enjoy creating mini albums and mini booklets so

naturally, I LOVE these sturdy little, fun shaped treasures!

The are PERFECT for little books of memories or what-nots.

I have some dear friends about to embark

on a spiritual journey of training

that will take them through the next few years of mission work.

I figure they will need a little notebook of sorts

to jot down notes and quotes,

or just keep track of their own thoughts.

*   

So I utilized the

POSTAGE STAMP PERFECTLY SHAPED PAGE

to act as my booklet cover and the

SQUARE PERFECTLY SHAPED PAGE

to act as the booklet back.

Then I inserted regular notebook paper

timmed to 5x5" every other page of

card stock trimmed to 6x6"

(each piece of card stock is trimmed 1/8" to 1/4" smaller than 6x6.)

Some of the card stock pages are left blank

so my friends can use them as needed.

Perhaps they might adhere a family photo to keep them encouraged

or a photo of someone they treasure during their training.

*

The second to last page holds a bookmark

that will surely be helpful with tracking the scriptures.

*

The pocket holding the bookmark was created

by simply trimming a piece of decorative paper

to 3x6" and folding down a 1" portion of it

to expose the beautifully decorated opposite side.

* 

I left the final pages completely blank, as I said,

for their own treasured memories

whether they be words of encouragement or endearing photos.

* 

The polished stone look of the front and back covers

were created by simply using a sponge and craft ink.

I "rubbed" the inked sponge all over the

Perfectly Shaped pieces until I had my desired look.

Then I edged the pieces with another color.

*  

I spritzed the front and back covers with

some "home-made" shimmer mist.

It sparkles like all get-out!

Unfortunately the photo doesn't show it like IRL.

I'm so ready to see some flowers... and butterflies!

I'm using MOSD's adorable little "Show Off" album

for my springy project today.

The "Show Off" album comes with

two acylic covers and 4 cardboard pages.

I love using decorative paper in these little albums

but sometimes the paper is too thin to use all by itself.

This is where the cardboard pages come in handy.

They add durability to the album.

And since you know the album is going to be

looked at and looked at and looked at,

it needs to be sturdy and durable.

I'm showing this album without pictures

because I am... yes, waiting for spring.  ;-)

I can't wait to take photos of my kids

and get them in this adorable album.

The simplicity of my album

gives you an opportunity to use your creativity

and decide in what direction you might go further with it.

I believe that's how life is...

God gives it to us... in a simple form.

Christmas decorations are being taken down as I type.

We had such a fun New Year's Celebration

that I really want to scrapbook the fun event!

And what a perfect reason to use the

MOSD "1-2-3 Inticacy!"

Above you can see how the intricacy looks

before all of my trimming is complete.

Below, you can see where I trimmed the

numbers "10" and "20" away from the sheet.

Together, these trimmed numbers make a perfect

New Year's title for my page.

As you can see, I also used

MOSD's "Twirly Gigs Stick Ons."

These aren't your everyday stickers!

MOSD "Stick Ons" are like rub-ons but better

because they don't leave a film edge around the image

and they are much easier to apply... just peel and stick!

Festive Favorites

One theme workin' here at MOSD this month is

"Holiday Traditions."

When I think of any holiday,

I think of FOOD!  Oh yea!

I have favorite recipes of certain family members

that make the holidays "the holidays,"

especially when it comes to eating. he he he.

Following this theme, I decided to create a little keepsake

of all of our favorite festive recipes.

I used the Mini Flip Cover 2 Cover album by MOSD.

The red binding rings, also by MOSD, worked wonderfully

with this festive patterned paper!

The spine of my album uses

ALL THE SAME

BUILD A BOOK PIECES.

As you can see, I used the

PERFECTLY SHAPED TABBED piece.

I did this so that the book itself would be uniform

and I could easily insert my

SPIRAL BINDING RINGS

(also a MOSD product!)

Covered easily with my patterned paper,

you can see I still have plenty of room for more photos.

And the possibility for adding more pages

with other "Perfectly Shaped" pages is endless!

I added even more eye candy

by allowing some of my embellishing elements

hang slightly off the page

such as I did with my two hearts seen above.

I used a Crop-a-dile to punch through

my entire album once I was ready to bind it.
