Summer Reading journal

My son's last day of third grade is tomorrow - cannot believe it!! So to encourage him to read this summer I thought I'd make a fun little journal for him to keep track of his books read and even draw pictures about the stories (he loves to draw!)

I started with a MOSD Cover 2 Cover Show Off Acrylic Album. This album is about 4x6 - small enough to keep handy!

I used a MOSD Intricacies - Numbers on the acrylic cover.

I added a MOSD Journal Bits Stick On's in black and then added stickers for my title.

A few black MOSD Snap Rings and some ribbon completed the outside of the summer reading journal.

I left the unfinished chipboard on the inside of the journal and added some white papers for variety.

Easy & fun to make! Hopefully my son will add lots of titles into his reading journal this summer!

This sun catcher was so fun and easy to create.

Here's how you can do the same using the

fantastic products from

MIDNIGHT OIL SCRAPBOOK DESIGNS...

* 

Using the FLIPPED OUT ALBUM,

I trimmed one of the smallest acrylic pieces to a perfect square.

With a bit of tissue paper and

waterbase sealer (such as Mod Podge,)

create a stained glass look to one side of your square

using the "mosaic technique."

1.  Apply sealer to square first.

2.  Quickly but carefully layer torn pieces of tissue paper.

3.  Apply sealer over torn pieces of tissue.

Add decorative elements to the FRONT of your square.

I used the STARS INTRICACIES from MOSD

just above my childrens' photos.

Using a heavy duty punch tool (such as the Cropadile,)

punch a hole in each corner of the square.

Add beading wire (I used 22 gauge) and beads.

This would be a super fun project for any age.

I covered the top piece with paper and painted the lower piece-
added a few buttons and embellishments to complete the look-
and yes, he is innocent--of being so darn cute!


Tyler will get this when he comes over today--Won't he be surprised!

MOSD Chipboard Album + Basic Grey = Creative Happiness!

Hello Everyone! It's Naureen with a fun chipboard album project. So I was inspired by another scrapper that used these same papers on a mini album. Since I had some Basic Grey Urban Prarie left in my stash, I knew it would be just enough to make a chipboard album for a friend. This actually is a suprise for her, she doesn't even know it's coming! This album was fun and easy to do. Here are the supplies you will need to make one just like it! Happy Scrapping!

Build a Book turned Shadow Box

Hello Fellow Crafters! Amy here today sharing with you my latest MOSD creation. Every time I look at MOSD products I get inspired. Inspired to play, and hey, that's what this world of crafting is all about right?! One of my favorite MOSD products are the Chipboard Perfectly Shaped Build a Book pages. When you have these in your stash the possibilities are endless as to what you can do. They are so versatile and fun. For this month's project I decided to use the Perfectly Shaped Build a Book pages to create a shadow box to highlight my DS and some of his current loves.

To create the shadow box I used 2 Perfectly Shaped - mini scallop pages for the front and back. I covered the front with paper using a spray adhesive and cut a 4in square out of the middle. I simply painted the back mini scallop page with black acrylic paint.To get depth in the shadow box I used a Perfectly Shaped - Pudgy Rectangle cut into 1in strips and hot glued them between the front and back. So easy, and it turned out so cute!

Once I had the initial frame of the box built it was time to embellish it. I started out with the idea of using the MOSD Picto Gram Cement Truck stick on and built my box around that. What I love about these stick ons is how easy they are to work with. I simply applied the stick on to a piece of cardstock and used colored pencils to give it a pop of color. I Added silver pearls for tire centers and I was done in no time. Not to mention it compliments the Sassafras Apple Jack papers I used perfectly!!

Here is a side view to give you an idea of the depth of the box. It's amazing what all these Perfectly Shaped Build a Book pages can do. They are sturdy and easy to work with, making crafting with them a pleasure! I love this shadow box, it's a true representation of my son and something I will cherish for a long time. Not your birthday... my internet system!

Some crazy things have been happening,

including my post showing up without any message.

So I'm going to try this once again

from the Birthday Collection for my card.

These stackers come trimmed to the finest

for you to create and assemble how you please

or how MOSD perfectly suggests.

Ready for a 12x12 scrapbook layout,

OR you can be all creative and go trimming your stacker

here and there as I have done for my birthday card.

And since this month hosts Mother's Day,

in honor of all women,

we should always create our birthday cards

with a little something something inside.

My card is an envelope card

which allows you to slip in any special something

for the gal of your delight.

Of course there is the obvious gift...

the good ole green ($$) or gift cards/certificates.

But other gifts fit just as nicely and won't break the bank.

What about favorite photos or a poem?

How about some handmade notecards or stationary

(or is it stationery?  he he.)

There is always the sweetest gift of "love ya coupons."

Envelope cards work great for group signing...

just have everyone sign a nice sheet of paper

instead of the card.  Then slip the sheet into the pockets.

The card stays lovely and the paper is a treasured momento.

I hope this gives you tons of ideas for your next birthday.

Now here is how to create your own envelope card...

Begin by tucking one flap of one envelope into the other.

Close this envelope over onto the other envelope.

*

Then adhere the remaining flap (of the "other envelope")

to the reverse side of the first envelope.

*

The two envelopes will end up working just like a card.

The side showing the flap can be covered over

as the "front" of the card.

This leaves the backside looking

neat and clean as if it were card stock.

Mother Card

We are kickin' off May by dedicating it to the special women our lives.

I created this Mother card using lots of great MOSD Products:



and the inside of the card:


MOSD has a great selection of Intricacies - I started with a a white Flower Intricacy added some foam pop dots under it and attached it to embossed purple cardstock, which is attached to a white premade card.

I picked the 'mother' definition from the Clearly Stated Quotables: Family and attached it to purple and black cardstock, then attached it to the card using more foam pop dots.

I added some sheer birds and Twirly Gigs - Elegante. I also added the Twirly Gigs - Elegante to the inside of the card as well as a tiny 'i love you' stamp.

There you have a quick card with lots of dimension & layers for any Mother in your life.
