A Little Winter Decor!

I took these photos of my daughter playing in the snow & loved the way they turned out so much that I wanted to display them. I decided to take three 6 X 6 hip to be square acrylic album covers and hook them together with the Midnight Oil rings. I added patterned paper to each square just a little smaller then the acrylic itself & then I distressed the edges and added the photos. I also added some Midnight Oil snowflake stickons with a little pink stickles. I then punched holes and hooked them together with the rings. For the top I used sheer ribbon to make a hanger. Now I can display it in my scrapbook room!

Frosty Fun

More snow is on its way here in New England this week. While I don't love the cold, the snow makes for lots of photo opportunities of my kids. In fact, I'm still scrapping last year's winter pictures!

My jaw dropped when I this gorgeous Snowflake Intricacy arrived at my house. I decided I wanted to really highlight the beauty of this paper, so here's what I did.
1. I cut a scalloped round base from blue patterened paper to work with the size and shape of the Intricacy.
2. The Snowflake Intricacy was spritzed with silver glimmer mist to add some shine.
3. I drizzled some Zip Dry glue around the edges of the paper and added silver glitter.
4. I couldn't resist adding a few Snowflake Stick Ons. I only added three though, since I didn't want to cover up the beauty of the Intricacy.
5. The centers of the snowflakes were embellished with red bling.



The beauty of Intricacies are that there is one for nearly every theme and they are easy to personalize. What will you do with yours?

Making Cards With Intricacies

Hello! I am excited to be your Monday Morning blog poster! Fitting day for me as former owner of Monday Morning Memories. I have designed 3 cards using Intricacies.

I began with choosing colors that you wouldn't normally choose for the flower and butterfly Intricacies. I started out with a different color for the hearts, but white worked better for what I was trying to do. I love the Tangerine butterflies and the Island Breeze flowers are fantastic! What other "outside the box" colors can you think of that would be great for some of our Intricacies? Do you have a girl that loves to play with cars? How about a pink car one?

Intricacies make an excellent background for cards. Just trim them down to fit the size you want, which means that you could get several cards out of one Intricacy.

I also added some...yep, you guessed it...STICK ONS! I first dyed the snowflakes with alcohol inks and then covered them with Stickles.

I love being the "Odd Ball"--- We'll finish off what turned into Stick - On week with something different--- Expressions Build A Book Letters...

Particularly a little tip on cutting out the letter middles.

Jan of Remember When Creations contacted me just after the New Year asking a GREAT question:

"What is your preferred or recommended way of trimming the insides of letters? "

Now - before you go all silly on me - yes, Jan knows how to weild a mighty x acto knife - she was wondering about DIFFERENT techniques I use when teaching and demo-ing with these awesome word books.

So here I have the letter D - I used my "special mix" of Tacky glue and water to adhere the paper to the front side of the D - then I flipped it over so I could work from behind.. The following picture tutorial should say it all!

So if you don't want to trim out the paper with an x acto- just fold over the edges for a clean gift wrapped finish, - GRIN!

More Stick-Ons!

I know you are probably tired of Stick-Ons, but they are so fun to use! If you've not yet tried them...get your hands on some and give them a try!

Here is another way to use the snowflake Stick-Ons.

I sponged some brown Staz-On ink onto the Snowflake Stick-Ons to make them match the grunge look of the papers I chose for this layout. I used some crackle paint (Tim Holtz) on the chipboard letters, and then inked them a bit. I created my journaling in Photoshop Elements 6.0, using a free journaling box downloaded from Faith Sisters, and some fonts downloaded from the Internet.

And before you panic, that snowy scene is NOT here in San Diego! It was in Pennsylvania in the winter of 2004/2005!
