I Spy with my little eye...Allison

So I don't plan the eye spy's all that much - they just come to me as I find MOSD products in other blogs and out on the web (I do get permission first!). So I find it ironic that last weeks eye spy was Beverly - which happens to be my Mom's name - but was not done by her and this week's eye spy is Allison - which is my name - but the sample was not done by me! Maybe I am the only one that thinks this is a little weird - I mean it isn't like the names are too unusual. But enough babbling and onto the eye spy.

This week's eye spy comes to us from Jan of Remember When Creations. Jan focuses on sustainable scrapbooking and memory preservation and through her blog demonstrates ways to recycle, reuse and reduce products and waste in the world of scrapbooking & paper crafts.

She used one of MOSD wordbooks which is made from 99% post consumer recycled chipboard.

Scrapbook Your Faith

I have spent the past three months as part of the Creative Challenge Team at Faith Sisters. For my last project I decided to use MOSD products. I thought maybe you would like to see what I made!

I used a 6x6 clear cover and a scallop circle, both from the Build-a-Book Perfectly Shaped program. (I love that you can do so much more than just make mini books with the MOSD shaped pages!)

I covered my shape with strips of paper, then trimmed around the shape with a craft knife. Once I had my shape decorated, I used my ATG to adhere it to the acrylic cover. To make a wall hanging, I used the Crop-a-Dile to punch holes into the acrylic and then set large eyelets into the corners.

My kids get the "bicker bug" sometimes, so this is a wonderful scripture to hang in our school room. It's a reminder for them (and for me) to use our helpful words and not "ugly" words.

Altered Art Journal

A number of years ago, I took an altered art journal class. I've since lost the journal (or given it away), but I remember how much fun it was to make. I have wanted to make another one for a while now, and my Cuttlebug Challenge on Crop Stop this week got me working on some altered art, which got me thinking. I thought, why not use a MOSD Hip 2 Be Squared album and make another journal? And that's exactly what I did! Check it out!

I used two shades of green alcohol inks to color the front acrylic cover. Then I added my altered art piece to the cover. Each of the 6 Hip 2 Be Squared chipboard pages is a "chapter" heading. I then added 5-6 blank 6x6 sheets of heavy cardstock between each "chapter" for my journaling and artsy musings. I bound the whole thing with my Bind-it-All tool.

This is one of the chapter headings - Sketches. Each chapter heading has an altered tag art attached. This is the one I made for the Crop Stop Challenge see how I used the Cuttlebug Embossing Folder on the Grunge Board hinge?!

Here is another chapter tag. This time I stamped on the Grunge Board butterfly. Very cool, right? Below are a few more chapter headings.

Below are a few of the journal pages. Besides being a place to journal, these pages are for trying out different art techniques. It's a place to play and be creative.

It certainly isn't September, but have you thought about documenting the changes your school aged children have made this year? Why only scrap Schoold Days in September when they start school? We are headed into the home stretch, Spring Break is just around the corner, how about some mid year pictures? I love this layout by Bev...bright colors, lots of room for pictures, and of course space for journaling! In fact here's an idea - have your kids do the journaling - capture their handwriting forever!

Simple Spring Decor

I decided to make another simple project from some MOSD goodies. I used a clear 6x6 cover from Build-a-Book 2 and the MOSD cover Stick-Ons to make this hanging. I jazzed it up with some rhinestones. I used some cardstock letters to spell out "Spring" across the bottom. Then, I used my Crop-a-Dile to punch holes in the top of the panel, then I attached some white eyelets and some ribbon. Simple, but cute!

This project was so hard to photograph, being clear and all. I tried hanging it on the fence, but I kept getting in the reflection! Then I tried putting against the (empty) pot, but got a lot of shadows.

Here it is hanging on our lemon tree! Which is starting to bud!

No Project is too Small...

...for MOSD! We have wonderful products for all your scrapbooking and card making needs. But...not every project you do will be a "masterpiece"! Not every project will be a full-blown mini-album. Not every project will be an amazing page layout. Sometimes your projects are small. Sometimes they need to be finished at the last second for a gift! Well, MOSD can help you with those projects too!

This perpetual calendar makes an awesome quickie gift! I simply purchased a clipboard at the craft store for under $2 and decorated it with some scrapbook supplies. Then, I attached a 6x6 MOSD Stick-Ons Calendar grid to the back a MOSD 6x6 acrylic sheet (normally sold as mini-album cover sets). I wrote the calendar information on the acrylic with a dry erase marker, and ta da, instant gift. You can even include the marker with your gift! (I did write my days of the week with a Sharpie so they'd not wipe off when you clean the calendar.)

Now, check out these vases!

I purchased the little vases at the Target Dollar spot. They came pre-printed with the words on them, but you could use Rub-ons, MOSD Stick-Ons, or Sharpie markers to add text to plain vases. I then added the circles from the MOSD Stick-Ons Backgrounds set to the vases. And, again, instant decor, or a gift that cost me pennies, and took me about 10 min. to make!

I rescued this Maya Road chipboard tin from the trash! I added some MOSD Stick-Ons (lattice from the Backgrounds set and a flower from the Diva Pictogram set) to the clear window of the tin. I also attached a rhinestone to the center of the flower. Then I tied a bunch of ribbon and fabric to the handle, stuffed the tin with some girlie items, and BAM! Girlie gift in 20 minutes!
